When I started looking into FastApply, it felt promising because of its auto-apply and resume building features. So I went through the onboarding myself, tested the auto-apply feature, dug into the pricing, and tracked down what real independent users were saying. 

The picture is more mixed than the marketing suggests. There are genuine strengths here, but also some friction points that aren’t mentioned anywhere.

Where I couldn’t verify something, I’ve said so. Where my experience differed from the marketing, I’ve called it out.

Key takeaways for your budget:

The $14 Starter plan is cheap on paper. But 200 credits per month works out to roughly 6-7 applications per day, which is lower than it sounds if you’re actively hunting. More importantly, credits may expire at the end of each billing month regardless of usage. If you have a slow week, those credits don’t carry over. You’re paying for a ceiling you may never fully use.

The Pro plan at $29/month adds AI cover letters per application, which is where FastApply starts to feel meaningfully different from doing it manually. 

The Elite plan at $49/month is the first tier where both resume and cover letter tailoring are included per application. For a serious active job search, this is the plan that makes the most sense

The referral program lets you earn 50 free credits for every friend who completes setup and activates auto-apply. Their friend gets 10 free credits on sign-up, and you earn 20 more when they upgrade to a paid plan. It’s a legitimate way to extend your credit pool if you know other job seekers.

How Does FastApply Work?

FastApply runs as a Chrome extension, not a standalone app. Once installed and configured, it monitors job boards and either applies on your behalf (Auto-Pilot) or pre-fills applications for you to review and submit (Co-Pilot). Here’s how the onboarding and experience actually played out.

Step 1: Upload Your Resume

The first screen asks you to upload your resume in PDF, DOC, or DOCX format (max 5MB). FastApply uses AI to extract your information and auto-fill the profile setup that follows. You can skip this and fill manually, but uploading makes everything faster.

Step 2: Personal Information

Step two collects the basics — first name, last name, email, country code, phone number, and a professional headline. It’s pre-populated from your resume where possible. Notably, it also asks for your professional headline upfront, which feeds into how the AI frames your applications.

Step 3: Location Details

FastApply collects your full location: country, city, state/province, street address, zip code, and crucially, your time zone.

Step 4: Professional Experience

This step covers years of experience, LinkedIn profile URL, GitHub profile URL, portfolio website, and expected annual salary. You can also check “I’m open to negotiate” to leave the salary field flexible. The more complete this section, the more accurately the AI fills application forms on your behalf.

Step 5: Education

School or university, degree type, major or field of study, GPA, and start and end dates. GPA is a newer field. FastApply added it specifically to improve accuracy on applications that ask for it. Leaving sections empty here can cause the AI to either skip those fields or, in some cases, hallucinate a value. More on that below.

Step 6: Platform Selection and Auto-Apply

After setup, you select which platforms to target, enter your job title or keywords, set your location, and choose how many jobs to apply to per session. The platform picker shows all supported boards.

You also have a company blacklist field where you can type company names to exclude.

What Actually Happens During Auto-Apply

This is where I need to be honest about the gap between the marketing and the experience.

The FastApply bot doesn’t run quietly in the background while you go about your day. It opens a new browser window, navigates to the job listing, and starts filling in fields one by one. You can watch it happen in real time. The bot works through the application form methodically, pulling from your profile to populate each field.

For standard forms, this works reasonably well. It filled most fields accurately and moved through the application at a pace that felt (as advertised) roughly like watching someone else do your paperwork.

But when the application required a resume upload, the bot got stuck. It couldn’t upload my file and stalled the application. So if the job application has a mandatory resume upload field, FastApply may not be able to complete it without manual intervention (at least it didn’t, in my case).

The AI can also occasionally fill in fields you haven’t specified, making up plausible-sounding but inaccurate information. This is a real risk if you’re running on Auto-Pilot without reviewing each submission. Co-Pilot Mode exists precisely to catch this, and if you’re new to the platform, I’d strongly recommend starting there.

Job Profiles

One of FastApply’s more useful features is the ability to create multiple job profiles, each with its own resume, preferences, and targeting criteria. If you’re applying to both marketing roles and project management positions with different resumes, you can run those as separate profiles rather than constantly switching settings.

Every application submitted  (whether through Auto-Pilot or Co-Pilot) gets logged in the Job Tracker automatically. The dashboard shows four columns: Applied, Interview, Offer, and Rejected, plus a response rate metric at the top. It also lets you filter by platform and search by job title or company name.

FastApply’s independent review base is thin. Their Trustpilot page has only a small number of reviews, and the testimonials on their own site are curated. That context matters.

What Users Like

The Co-Pilot experience

Multiple users mention that watching the bot fill out applications, and being able to step in when needed, is genuinely satisfying compared to the manual grind. One user wrote: “I love the fact that it was able to fill the job forms accurately just the way I wanted and submitted it. I just had to sit and watch.” 

Broad platform coverage

With 20+ supported platforms, including ATS systems like Greenhouse, Lever, and Workday that most tools don’t touch, FastApply reaches parts of the job market that LinkedIn-only tools miss entirely.

Low barrier to entry

Five free applications with no credit card is a genuine differentiator. In a space where most tools ask you to commit money before you’ve seen results, FastApply’s free tier is a real safety net.

What Users Are Frustrated About

LinkedIn automation is gone (for now)

As of May 2026, FastApply has pulled LinkedIn automation to comply with LinkedIn’s Terms of Service. They’ve added eight new platforms to compensate (Workday, iCIMS, OracleCloud, Monster, Personio, JazzHR, Rippling, Jobvite), but LinkedIn is where a huge proportion of job listings live, and its absence is felt. There’s no timeline on when, or if, it returns.

Unfortunately, this was one of their most used and quoted features which is now shelved, as one user shares their experience:

Another user on Chrome Web Store expressed: 

“The linkedin automation works, none of the other ones work as well as the linkedin automation.  Ziprecruiter was working, but stopped working this weekend on 12/12/25.”

Credits expire monthly

Unused credits may not roll over. If you have a slow application week, those credits are gone. This is a legitimate complaint, especially on the Starter plan where 200 credits doesn’t give you much buffer.

The most serious independent review I found describes a user who paid for a full year, hit a daily limit bug showing “0/100” remaining despite barely using the service, and then couldn’t access the Help/Contact page. The support team did respond publicly and offered to investigate. But the experience highlights that for a tool handling something as high-stakes as your job search, support reliability matters.

Automation reliability varies by platform. Several users noted that performance differs significantly across job boards — with some platforms working smoothly and others being buggy or unreliable. One user observed: “The LinkedIn automation works… none of the other ones work as well.” That was from before LinkedIn automation was removed, which only sharpens the concern about consistency on remaining platforms.

Resume upload failures

As I experienced personally, the bot can stall when an application requires a file upload. This isn’t a corner case. Most serious applications ask for a resume upload and when it fails, the application gets stuck mid-submission.

When to Use FastApply and When to Switch

Choose FastApply if:

  • You want the lowest-cost entry point to AI auto-apply. $14/month and 5 free credits to start is genuinely competitive.
  • You’re applying across a wide range of platforms beyond LinkedIn and want coverage across ATS systems like Greenhouse, Workday, and Lever.
  • You’re managing multiple job searches simultaneously and need separate profiles and resumes for each.

But if FastApply’s browser-dependent, credit-limited approach is starting to feel like a ceiling, there’s a stronger option worth knowing about.

Can I blacklist companies on FastApply I don’t want to apply to?

Yes. There’s a Company Blacklist field directly in the platform selection screen. You type company names comma-separated and FastApply will skip those listings. Useful for excluding your current employer or companies you’ve already applied to.

Does FastApply work for non-US job seekers?

Yes, to an extent. The location setup collects your country, city, and time zone, and the platform supports a Remote Anywhere filter for globally remote roles. Several supported platforms, like Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, and SmartRecruiters, are used by companies worldwide. That said, if your job market relies heavily on local job boards not in FastApply’s supported list, your results will be limited.

Can I use FastApply on mobile?

No. FastApply is a Chrome extension and requires a desktop or laptop running Google Chrome. There is no mobile app.
